Dr. Karen Zelman is a pediatric neuropsychologist who earned her Ph.D. in Child Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Houston. She completed her predoctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, Texas) and her postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Preschool Development Program of the North Shore University Hospital (Hicksville/Manhasset, New York). In the latter placement, she evaluated and treated children with a wide range of neurodevelopmental disabilities, including communication delays, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. For over a decade, Dr. Zelman has worked with hearing-impaired children and their families in a variety of educational settings from preschool through high school. In addition, she has provided diagnostic services and therapeutic support to Connecticut children and families who receive Birth-to-Three services.
Dr. Zelman has extensive experience in the evaluation of children and adolescents with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological issues including learning and intellectual disabilities, communication and autism spectrum disorders, executive dysfunction, anxiety, and depression. Dr. Zelman identifies each child’s unique cognitive strengths and weaknesses to guide educational and therapeutic interventions. She has worked with educators, students, and families in a variety of educational and residential settings to develop and implement comprehensive individualized education and counseling support plans.
Dr. Zelman is licensed in Connecticut. She joined Comprehensive Neuropsychological Services in 2019.
